Many congratulations to six of our squad swimmers who have been selected for 3 stages on the 2020 Swim England Talent Pathway. Riz Ellison R from Junior County and Fraser A and Zoe D from National/Regional squads have been picked for the 11 year olds County Development Programme, Matthew L has been picked for stage 2 for 12 year olds, the Regional Development Programme and Emily L and Allie B have been picked for stage 3 for 13/14 year olds, the National Development Programme. From next week, the other Junior Squads: Junior County, Development and Piranhas can start returning to swimming too. This is exciting news and follows a successful few days with just the more experienced squad swimmers in the pool. Exciting news that we are able to return to swimming from 11th August 2020. Our new Covid Lead, David Lowther ([email protected]), has created the new Return To Swimming tab on the website (https://uk.teamunify.com/team/cossc/page/return-to-swimming) no need to log on to access it. All swimmers must read the guidance and complete the form before they can return to swimming. Looking forward to returning to swimming. The Quays are aiming to open the pool on 10th August and the Jubilee Pool is due to be open on 7th September. All parents/guardians of members should have received an email with current information on 19th July. If not received please contact [email protected]. As of 20th March, all Leisure Centres have been shut due to Covid-19 until further notice. Squad swimmers are now land training at home. Drills and updates will be on On Deck and the club Facebook group. Hopefully we will be able to return to swimming soon.
Another excellent weekend of racing at Portsmouth for our swimmers in individual events and relays. Many PBs were achieved. Stand out performances were from Freddy Clampett who won 4 golds and qualified for the GB Championships, the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team who won a bronze and Jess Milligan achieving two bronzes in 100m and 200m Fly. Onwards to our Spring Meet and then the Regionals!
Building on the success from the first weekend, the 18 under 14 year old swimmers who went to Waterlooville achieved a wonderful 62 personal bests between them. Overall 47 swims were top 8 finishes with 34 swims inside the Regional Qualifying Times. What a successful weekend! The results once again showed a marked improvement over the last three years' results. Out of 26 individual swims in the long distances (400IM, 400m Free, 800m Free and 1,500m Free), 23 were Personal Best Times. Many congratulations to all the swimmers who make up our 2020 Hampshire County Team either as individuals or in the relays. 48 of our swimmers aged 10 upwards will be participating in the highly competitive Hampshire Championships at Portsmouth and Waterlooville over the coming month. We look forward to some fantastic swims: personal bests, regional qualifying times and medals. Go Team!
