CSSC swimmers go mad in May!

Volunteer Coordinator

Winchester Sprint May Madness Meet, 21st May 2023

On Sunday, 3 squads from City of Southampton SC entered the May Madness Sprint Meet hosted by Winchester City Penguins Swim Club.  This was a meet aimed at non-regional swimmers capped by upper entry limits, with priority given to Hampshire clubs. The swimmers very much enjoyed the warm-up dancing to YMCA, it was a fun-time, feel-good meet enjoyed by all that attended. Thank you, Winchester!

CSSC had a total of 212 swims with an impressive number of Personal Best Swims at 174, which is a staggering 82% pb rate across the team and with only 3 disqualifications.  Coach Paul and George are rightly proud of the achievements of these swimmers; many of whom are just beginning their competitive journey, achieving not only L3  times at a Long Course Meet, but were also awarded the following medals:-

Gold 13

Silver 9

Bronze 12

Some swimmers were able to enter on their 3rd or 4th stroke being too fast on many of the other races, using this as an opportunity to make improvements on their journey to becoming skilled IM swimmers.  Well done to everyone that took part; as always the results show the continuing strength being built at all levels across the club.  The season will soon draw to a close, after Nationals in early August, but from these results I think we can predict a healthy Counties result next year!

Thank you to Coach Paul, Coach George and to all of our Team Managers, Sarah, Nikki, Karen and Tash.  Special thanks also to all the officials that attended to enable all swimmers at the meet to obtain official times.
