Matthew at the Para World Series

City of Southampton Swim Club is very proud of Matthew who recently attended the World Series, as part of the home nations contingent, held at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, March 16-19th 2023.  This is one of the most prestigious events in Para Swimming.   Matthew made the final for the Men's 100m Breastroke with almost a 1.2 second pb.  The club tuned in from home to watch his final at 18:40, cheering loudly from their sofas,  as Matthew completed his race with a new time of 1:22.44.  

Matt Heathcock, Head Coach, attended the meet with Matthew and his family.  Matthew is a much loved member of the Performance squad at City of Southampton, both his dedication and talent are paying off as he achieves new personal bests and becomes a well known name in Para swimming.

Matthew was also lucky enough to meet Ellie Simmonds (OBE), a former GB Paralympian, pictured below.
